Hypnosis explained.................

What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state.   When relaxing and reading or watching TV or just day dreaming, do you ever lose track of time? this is what hypnosis is like.   The only difference with Clinical Hypnosis is that I will help you to achieve this wonderful relaxed state.  It is a completely safe, natural and enjoyable experience.
How does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis relaxes the conscious mind and opens the subconscious mind, enabling it to accept positive suggestions, providing the suggestions are what you desire.  Clinical Hypnotherapy is not mind control,  the positive suggestions given will only take effect if that is what you want.  You always have control, you have control to be hypnotized or not to be hypnotized, to accept the suggestions or not to accept them.
Will I go to sleep?
You will not go to sleep, but if you are the type of person who dozes off when they are relaxed, you may start to doze off during the session however I will awaken you.  During hypnotherapy you are in a natural state of deep relaxation, you will hear everything that is said, you will be in full control at all times.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
Definitely not, you are aware of everything the whole time.    Although some clients enjoy the experience so much that they say to me after the session "I wish I could come here each day, I felt so relaxed and at peace".   This is especially true for clients who have been suffering  stress or emotional turmoil.
Counselling explained..............
What is counselling?
Counselling helps you to explore and understand your feelings.  Feelings such as anger, grief, anxiety, self-esteem, can be difficult to understand and cope with.   As your counsellor/therapist I am trained to help you to understand, work through and deal with these feelings.
I will not tell you what to do, rather I will guide you to make your own decisions and to find your own answers, this will be done in a safe non-judgemental way.
A client presenting for counselling can often request hypnotherapy in addition to counselling, to deal with specific issues such as anger, grief, self esteem, anxiety, issues that maybe stopping them from resolving their problems.
You can have counselling for personal or relationship problems.
After a counselling session, you will feel a sense of relief.  My clients often say to me  "I feel as if a heavy weight has been lifted off me".  This feeling of relief usually happens after just one session. I sometimes teach meditation to my clients, this helps clients to focus and relax.
What happens when I arrive for therapy?
When you arrive I will meet you and usher you into a comfortable consulting room.  If you arrive very early, I will ask you to wait in a very pleasant waiting room with music and magazines.  Because I space my appointments, you will not be bumping into other clients, you will have complete privacy.  Depending on time available, you may be offered tea/coffee.  The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly but at the same time professional standards are always maintained.   You will immediately feel comfortable and at ease.  I will ask you to fill out a form with your personal details i.e. name, address, phone, medical history, medications etc.   During the first session I will obtain your background history and details about your problem. I will then proceed with the appropriate therapy for you.
